Over 400 Folks Came Out for the Winter Festival!
Despite being a tad bit on the cold side over 400 folks ventured out for the fou
rth annual No Child Left Inside® Winter Festival at Burr Pond State Park in Torrington.
Participants enjoyed ice fishing (we actually caught a lot this year!), dining on Pollock and Perch, snowshoeing, ice skating, identifying trees in winter, learning about how animals cope with the cold weather (we also were coincidentally testing how well we as Connecticut residents can cope with cold weather), watching the Torrington Fire Department perform ice safety rescue demonstrations and roasting marshmallows.

Visits with our furry friends were an added bonus. Emma, Abby and Greta from Resources in Search and Rescue were on hand with their newest addition – 9 week old Prudence – and Brooke (the otter) amazed the crowds with her personality.
Thanks to everyone for bundling up and venturing out! The next time we see you it should hopefully be a little warmer!!
